The Magician's Nephew

I'm reading this C.S. Lewis novel to my daughter. I had forgotten how much I like it; it may be my favorite of the Narnia Chronicles.

Lewis fans, what's your favorite Lewis book (fiction or non)?

I'm a Lewis fan but can't say which is my favorite of his. I read "The Screwtape Letters" and "Mere Christianity" years ago. When "The Chronicles of Narnia" came back into vogue, I read all of Narnia, then moved on to his Space Trilogy. I don't read fantasy usually but loved "Out of the Silent Planet" and "Perelandra." However when I got to "That Hideous Strength," I'd had enough. Some day I'll go back to it.

LOL! I didn't much care for That Hideous Strength, either. Perelandra is my all-time favorite, though! The two are very different.

Rosslyn, how can one choose?????

I read Mere Christianity around the time I was becoming a Christian, and it opened my eyes. Screwtape Letters is so clever. I have books of CS Lewis' essays that I reread every few years. Then there's Surprised by Joy, Problem of Pain, even the pain of a Grief Observed.

The Chronicles are the most powerful metaphors I have ever read -- so much wisdom in children's books!

What a mind this man had!

I'm going to say that Dawn Treader is my favorite...but that's a hard decision. By the way, Dawn Treader is being made into a movie and will be released in 2010.

Hooray for Reepicheep! He's the best thing about Dawn Treader.

It used to be the Horse and His Boy (not a popular choice, I know)--but I'm with Travis. Dawn Treader is the best.
