Bread Week

So, I'm on this allergy detection diet that my friends are now heartily sick of hearing me moan about.

Today marked the beginning of the long-awaited Bread Week. In addition to my regular diet of only meat, vegetables, and potatoes, I am supposed to eat:

One slice of French bread a day for three days
Two slices of French bread a day for three days
Three slices of French bread for one day

Something very odd happened when I returned home after my trip to the grocery store. I placed the loaf of French bread on the counter and sliced it with a serrated knife. The loaf was fresh-baked, heavy, natural bread.

As soon as I raised the first slice to my lips, everything went white.

When I came to my senses some time later, I was still standing in the kitchen with the knife in my hand. I looked at the counter in front of me to get my bearings. Four inches of loaf had vanished completely.

Suffice it to say that if I'm sensitive to wheat, we're going to know it very soon. ;-)

Rosslyn, I'm impressed you (or anyone) can go without eating bread in the first place! Hot French bread...This is one of life's great pleasures.

Oh. living without wheat is no fun...I've been largely avoiding bread for most of a year...so I feel Rosslyn's pain....if I can sneak in a piece or two of bread a week, I'm living pretty high!
